Christmas Controversy Erupts as Satanic Tree Topper is Stolen!

In another act of Christian vandalism, someone stole the topper on the Christmas tree that was displayed by the Satanic Temple.

The Satanic Temple of San Jose erected their own Christmas tree for the Christmas in the Park event, at the Plaza De Chavez park in San Jose. The Christmas in the Park event was an attempt to set a world record of the most amount of Christmas trees lit at once. The Christmas in the Park event hosted 600 trees.

the Satanic tree display is nestled in between other Christian religious organizations’ Christmas trees in the park. Their topper was a beautiful black Baphomet head, sitting atop a tree decorated with stars, lights and specially made Satanic holiday balls. The black Baphomet topper was created just for the temple by one of their artists, Chris Andre.

The organizers of the Christmas in the Park event were accommodating to any religious group who wanted to create a display, as long as it wasn’t anything profane. “Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And as a public organization and a public event, it’s our responsibility to make sure everybody has the ability to voice their beliefs”, said Joseph Schumaker, event coordinator.

In the past few years the Satanic Temple has been involved in activism across America, from classrooms to city capitals. Their goal is to expose religious organizations that want to control their own involvement in government. They cheered when the ten commandments were removed from the city capital in Oklahoma, pointing out that religious displays shouldn’t be displayed on government property. And they celebrated the unveiling of the first-ever Satanic monument in America.

Despite the hospitality of San Jose, someone stole their Christmas ornament. Surprisingly, the Satanic Temple declined to file the police report as a hate crime.

A statement from the Satanic Temple of San Jose Facebook page mentions that they just want to move on, and replace the topper despite having to deal with the theft.

Understanding that this theft does not represent our community as a whole, TST-San Jose would like to move past this incident and continue to participate in the holiday festivities as part of the local community we value and love. We will be replacing our tree topper as we can, and hope you all enjoy our tree.
sanborn pentagram

Acts of vandalism against Satanic displays have been in the news recently. In 2016 a 300lb red painted metal pentagram was installed for Christmas in the park in Boca Raton, Florida. The display was created by a Satanic temple member, a local schoolteacher. After a struggle with city council they were allowed to install their display in the park.

However, someone knocked it down and ran over it with a vehicle. The next year in 2017, the same display was scheduled to be put on display again. Unfortunately, they missed the deadline to apply for the display. In the meantime, a local Christian preacher, Mark Boykin, threatened to destroy it with a sledgehammer.

Maybe they forget that this is America and we have freedom of religion. Freedom of religion means that anyone is entitled to express their religious beliefs, just like the Christians do. Destroying a religious display is a crime in the United States. Let’s hope that in the future Satanists won’t have to worry about their religious displays being vandalized by Christian criminals.
